Texas Republican points out own failure

It's always nice when someone admits they, you know, fucked up. Take Sen. Hutchison, for example. She recently rolled out a bill in Congress that will allow states that pay more in gas taxes than they get back in federal highway revenue to stop sending that federal gas tax to DC. Sounds good, right?

Well, not so much. For one thing, in the past Texas has received more than we sent. That started to change as the makeup of the Congressional delegation changed. In short, the failure to get more highway funds into Texas is purely the failure of every single Texas Republican in Congress. They screwed us so they could build power for themselves. Our Republicans in Congress voted to give more to help their friends in tougher political environments than they brought back to Texas because they knew Texans wouldn't throw them out of office.

As a result, we haven't been getting enough and the it's purely a failure of the Republicans in our delegation. Remember that when you're voting for Representatives and (hopefully) a Senator in 2010.
