Bush doesn't understand where we went wrong in Vietnam
Bush recently drew a faulty analogy between American's leaving Vietnam and our troop's departure from Iraq...
"One unmistakable legacy of Vietnam is that the price of America's withdrawal was paid for by millions of innocent citizens whose agonies would add to our vocabulary new terms like 'boat people,' 're-education camps' and 'killing fields,' " Bush told a friendly audience of Veterans of Foreign Wars members.
See, the problem with Vietnam, as Mayor McSleaze pointed out recently, was that Truman followed the advice of Dean 'Nuke 'em' Acheson and backed the wrong horse. Had he recognized Ho Chi Minh's government and told the French to get bent with their efforts to retake their colonies, it's more than likely that Ho would have welcomed US aid and support instead of turning to the communists in Moscow or Beijing.
