Could Bush be more petty?

I was appalled tonight to learn (via Sister Ruth) that our former Governor and sitting President will not be attending the ceremony to honor Governor Richards. Yes, I know the history but that's hardly an excuse. Governor Richards served Texas well and whether you are a Democrat or a Republican, you should honor that service. I always thought the President was petty and childish. It's good to know I was right. For a former Governor to spurn services for another former Governor is unacceptable.

The best thing that ever happened to Texas was Clayton Williams opening his mouth. The worst thing that ever happened to Texas was George W. Bush opening his. After taking credit for what Governor Richards did during her term and leaving a mess when he moved to Washington, the least he could do would be to honor a woman who did a lot for Texas.

FUCK NO! I was hoping the idiot would stay away. Stay far far away. He would be as popular as a cute little baby walking into a woman's convention packed with a loaded diaper.

Fuck em. Let him stay in Washington doing what he is doing best, fucking up the country.

mcblogger, I think he would be a huge distraction at a celebration of the life of a Texas hero.

He's probably scared (like our Fort Bend County Republicans) of the Democrats that will be there.

Things could have gotten REAL ugly.

I can't go to the funeral, but I have the dvr set so I can watch it tonight when I get home. I would probably have a stroke if I saw Bush's monkey face on the front row.

i have to concur with the others. let's face it, he doesn't want to be there and nobody in attendance would really want him there. the mutual discomfort would have really interfered with the vibe and distracted from the memory of Ann.

Just me... I still think that he should have swallowed his pride and done the right thing for the state he supposedly loves. No, no one wanted him there but the fact remains that he should have been there to honor her service out respect. She did a hell of lot more for Texas than he ever did.
