Horsing around with Mark Warner

The last few weeks have been like caring for an aged, dying, impossibly wealthy relative that you despise yet desperately hope will remember you in their will. At long last they finally die and now you can reveal your true feelings while reveling in the knowledge that just as soon as the will is probated, you will have a mightily fattened bank account.

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingThat's right, over the last few weeks I've prostituted myself and the blog for someone I can't stand. Tonight, I can reveal the fact that I HATE MARK WARNER.

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingOh, I know you could figure it out from my derision in the MapChanger posts. I hated the contest but even more I hated the self serving egomaniacal former Governor behind it. Horsey McHorseface acted as though the entire thing was a function of his generous nature, as though his 'largesse' was something other than a fantastic fundraising and database building tool.

Some may call this sour grapes. You're entitled to your opinion, no matter how inaccurate. I would have received nothing out of Courage winning MpaChangers. In point of fact, I'm not paid by ANY campaign. Still, I was willing to get down on my knees and worship at the alter of Mark because I so desperately want to elect Democrats in Texas. I know I'm not the only one feels the same way. The one thing that gives me hope is that we all came together in an attempt to make something good happen. Courage and Bell will receive 5k a piece and we all get emails from the Warner people until we puke. Mark raised millions and came out of this with a tremendous email list. We're the ones who got screwed... even the guy who won only got, what, 50k? What is that, a week of TV? In Boise?

The more I thought about it today the more I got pissed. Not because it was opportunistic (it WAS) but because I actually held back on criticism. In the end I'm pissed at myself.

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingI know some of you like him and my hope is that over the next 18-22 months you'll figure out what I have... that Mark Warner is little more than Joe Lieberman with a southern pedigree and buck teeth. Consider this fair warning, Warner lovers... I don't share your warm affection for the former Governor of Virginia. To paraphrase something Portia de Rossi said to Clint Howard in an episode of Arrested Development, I think he's gross.

I do hope he'll come to Texas and help out the Dems down here. It would, at the very least, show him as someone who does care about party building instead of just building up for his inevitable run at the Presidency.

Well, he'll only be sending emails to my "spam" addresses, the couple I only use for junk emails and rarely check.

I think it's awful that he totally ignored the cooperation deal that the Winter and Courage campaigns offered up at the end. Total silence on that.

You have become one of the top blogs I love to read every morning! Here's my opinion on Warner - Otherwise, why not a Warner/Lieberman ticket for electibility if getting a Dem, ANY DEM, in office is the object.

Thanks for the compliment! I know what you mean... given the Democratic primary voters penchant for pandering slime, I'm sure Warner will be the guy in 2008. The only person who would piss me off more is Biden.

He's got pandermatic skills of which Hillary is darkly envious.

Thanks for stopping by!

Did someone just say "Warner/Liebermann ticket"??? There's a reason you never see Quick Draw McGraw and Droopy Dawg in the same cartoon, pal!

Well, my only fear is that he might be the only thing between us and the Hillary jugarnaught. If faced with that decision, I'm certain you'd have to bite your tongue and vote for him. :) As far as a listbuilding activity, yes it was. A very good one, at that. Maybe if you call Wes Clark up, he'll agree to show up instead of Warner... :) Imagine THAT as a "Hotline" headline!!!

I think Feingold bounced up in my book again because of this (he actually did come to Texas you know). Sure, he's the 2008 liberal jew version of Howard Dean, but come on, can we say... Austin, hello?!?!?

thanks for saying it and getting it out there...lol

i called it over at Texas Kos a few days ago. i applaud your willingness to say anything. the mapchangers thing pisses me off just like the rest of those contests, we just don't have time for competing amongst ourselves.
