Breaking... State Submits plan to butffuck Travis County
Seriously, buttfuck may be too kind. The new map with leave Travis County with three Congressional districts. The Reps? Bonilla, McCaul and Smith.
The map splits Travis County among U.S. Rep. Lamar Smith, R-San Antonio; Henry Bonilla, R-San Antonio; and Michael McCaul, R-Austin.Doggett would be left with some difficult choices. He could run against McCaul, where Doggett now lives, or against Smith, who would inherit a large chunk of Doggett's Democratic base in Travis County. Or, as Abbott seems to suggest Doggett could run in his redrawn district, which would stretch from Caldwell County to the border.
The crew here at McBlogger would like to send a big FUCK YOU! out to Governor Cocksucker, Attorney General Greg 'Wheelie' Abbott, Speaker Tom CradDICK and of course Lt. Governor Dewhurst.
Special thanks go to that One Senile Old Bitch, C4N3P without whom this whole fucking fiasco wouldn't have been possible.
Finally a word of advice to the R Congressmen who are probably thinking "YEAH ME!"... you DON'T want to campaign in Austin. EVERY single event will be protested. We will make your life miserable. Quit now and we MIGHT leave you alone. Otherwise, WE'LL PICK YOU OFF ONE BY ONE, ELECTION BY ELECTION. Ask The Keels if we're serious.

Hell of a choice Lloyd's got. Sounds like Smith's district is the "easy" seat, but the prospect of squeezing out Courage makes for one hell of a moral dilemma. I really think McCaul is vulnerable because he is the consummate empty suit and because he toes the party line, which might not even be working anymore in central/east texas anymore. the question is, are the good folks in the 290 corridor more inclined to go with an earnest up and comer like Ankrum or someone like Doggett who's got a well-known voting record not necessarily in line with the standard P.O.V. in Brenham?

Ankrum may be earnest, but "up and comer" might be a bit...strong.
Ted's got to let people know who he is, and to do that, he needs money. Something the FEC reports show that McCaul has, and Ted doesn't.
I kinda think he should start using the slogan Newt Gingrich suggested; "Had enough?"
Fuck yeah! I've had about goddamn enough, already!
Let's send Mike McCaul back to the three million dollar house his Clear Channel daddy in law bought.
Piece of crap.

This is just the Republican proposal right? So this would put Dem vs. Dem if accepted?

I dont think you can call Smith's seat the easy seat. It's fairly R now and with the new map it goes even more so. Also, don't get where Lloyd would face a moral delimma. Sure Courage has been campaigning hard this cycle, "won" the democratic primary, and deserves to face a republican in November...but Lloyd has represented Austinintes for many many years (dont feel like looking it up), "won" his primary and too deserves to go head to head in a general election. I'm behind Courage 100% against Lamar Smith. If all of sudden, there is a primary between Lloyd and Courage, my vote goes to Lloyd. There's no need to lose his senority. And as long as I dont have to work in any of his offices...
The "easy" D seat would be the Bonilla seat. Of course that would have one heckuva D primary. Kino Flores?

John Courage Statement
For the record, whichever map is adopted, whoever he has to run against, John Courage will be running for Congress.
If he is running against Lamar Smith or Henry Bonilla, he will be running. Period.
(Note: Either or, whatever happens, John is in.)
Press Release: John Courage Statement on Texas Redistricting Map Proposals
Democratic candidate for the current Texas Congressional District 21 running strong "no matter what"
Austin, TX- July 14, 2006
Over the last few days, several proposed maps for the Texas Congressional redistricting have surfaced, and the Democratic candidate for the current Texas Congressional District 21, John Courage, had this to say:
"I am running strong no matter who I have to run against. I entered this race to give the voters of central Texas a choice against a Republican incumbent who has voted against their interests and let them down time and time again. Lamar Smith has been terrible for the district, and fits this profile completely. If I have to follow Lamar Smith in order to let the voters know about how he has let the community down on veteran's issues, the environment, or education, I will go where I need to go. I am running strong no matter what.
“If I am faced with taking on Henry Bonilla in Congressional District 23, I will do that as well. I entered this race to replace a Republican incumbent, and that's exactly what I am committed to doing."
John Courage is committed to the working men, women, and families of central Texas, and will fight vigorously for the shared ideals of real support of veteran's benefits, quality healthcare, quality education, and to change the culture of corruption in Washington, D.C., and be a representative for central Texas, not a rubber-stamp clone who prefers party allegiance and politics over the best interests of the district.
John Courage has been running an energetic campaign, and was recently named a "net-roots endorsed" candidate, receiving nearly 400 individual contributions in a single day. Courage also was recently named a "MapChanger" by Governor Mark Warner's Forward Together PAC, in a contest featuring Congressional, Senatorial, and Gubernatorial Democratic candidates from all over the country, and received a $5,000 contribution.
